YESAB staff from the Mayo and Dawson City Designated Offices traveled to Fort McPherson in late September to host a community dinner, deliver presentations on YESAA and attend meetings with a number of local groups. Meetings were attended by elders, youth, the community and members of the Tetlit Gwich’in Council.
YESAB presented information on the YESAB process and highlighted ways to participate and comment on project proposals. Community attendees offered suggestions on ways to better communicate with the community during project assessments.
The YESAB team also gave a brief presentation on the geolocator to classes at the local school and met with the President of the Gwich’in Tribal Council to discuss participation opportunities within the YESAA process.
Overall it was a busy and successful trip and well worth the drive. Thank you to the community of Fort McPherson for hosting our team.
