Casino Mine Panel Review

The Casino Mine project is a proposed copper, silver, gold, and molybdenum mine approximately 150 km north-east of Carmacks.

The Casino Mine project is a proposed copper, silver, gold, and molybdenum mine approximately 150 km north-east of Carmacks. In 2016, the Executive Committee determined that this proposed project requires a review of a panel of the board.

Current status:
The Executive Committee (EC) of the Yukon Environmental and Socio-economic Assessment Board (YESAB) completed its initial check for sufficiency of the Environmental and Socio-economic Statement (ESE Statement) for the proposed Casino Mine. The purpose of the sufficiency check is to ensure that the information required by the ESE Statement Guidelines, issued to Casino Mining Corporation (CMC) in September 2023, is present and that the ESE Statement is ready to proceed with a Panel Review.

At this time, the EC has determined that the ESE Statement lacks completeness and additional information is required. Once CMC responds to EC’s request for additional information, EC will again conduct a review for sufficiency.

BACKGROUND

  • CMC submitted its ESE Statement on October 4, 2025.
  • Once the ESE Statement is deemed sufficient, EC can complete the final steps necessary to establish a Panel composed of members from YESAB’s Board of Directors.
  • Opportunities for public comment on the project will occur after a Panel of the Board has been established.
  • The proposed Casino Mine is located 150km northwest of Carmacks, Yukon.
